Following last years successful concert in Milan with Olga Kern, the Nuremberg Symphony on Wednesday return to the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi with another pianist, Bulgarian Plamena Mangova. Ms Mangova will perform the Hungarian Fantasy and Second Piano Concerto by Franz Liszt, while the orchestra opens with Smetana’s Overture to the Bartered Bride and ends the evening with Brahms’s Third Symphony. In a busy week, during which Alexander Shelley will be conducting Romeo and Juliette in Copenhagen on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, and in Milan on Wednesday, he and the Nuremberg Symphony will also return to Sonneberg, one of their regional venues, on Friday for a repeat of the Liszt/Brahms programme.
