Last Saturday night $800,000 were raised for the National Youth and Education Trust at the National Arts Centre’s annual Gala. Canadian icon k.d. lang headlined the evening’s proceedings, celebrating the 25th anniversary of her 1992 album Ingénue while Alexander Shelley and the National Arts Centre Orchestra performed Mozart and Dvorak in the first half, as well as the song We Shall Remain with Eskasoni singer Kalolin Johnson.
The post-concert auction, led by Ottawa mayor Jim Watson and Shopify COO Harley Finkelstein, raised a further $50,000 for the National Youth and Education Trust, an entity to that brings the Arts into the lives of young people across Canada.
