Myths and Legends with the RPONovember 7, 2017
The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Principal Associate Conductor Alexander Shelley open an enticing Myths and Fairytales series of four concerts at Cadogan Hall, London on Tuesday November 7 and Thursday November 9, 2017.
Experience the captivating fantasy in Tchaikovsky’s dramatic and warm Sleeping Beauty Suite, a work that inspired great ballet dancers to first start pirouetting. By the same composer, the lush and romantic ‘Rococo’ Variations will feature the remarkable German cellist Leonard Elschenbroich, a musician with expressive depth and a tranquil ability to connect with his audience. The concert comes to a close with Rimsky-Korsakov’s musically exotic symphonic suite Scheherazade, inspired by the delightful storytelling of a wise and witty woman.
Alexander looks forward to welcoming you to Cadogan Hall before each concert to tell you about the stories behind the music, and the concept behind the series.
