Following a spectacular two week tour of South Africa, Alexander Shelley and the National Youth Orchestra of Germany (Bundesjugendorchester) tonight give their final concert together, at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg.
The tour has thus far seen them performing at the Konzerthaus Berlin, in Nuremberg, Durban, Soweto, Stellenbosch, Pretoria and Cape Town and has included a great deal of outreach work, with the young musicians of the Bundesjugendorchester and Alexander playing side-by-side with young South African musicians.
Tonight’s concert will be filmed and broadcast live from 8pm German time (CEST), 2pm EDT. Follow this link to watch. The programme will feature Walton’s Johannesburg Festival Overture, Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess Suite, as well as Brahms’s 2nd Symphony.
The concert will also be broadcast on NDR Radio.
