On May 13th, Alexander Shelley finally bids farewell to his subscription audience in Nuremberg with a programme in which the audience themselves are given the opportunity to decide what they hear. Voting has been open for several months and the final symphonic work will be chosen from a list of Brahms 2nd Symphony, Schumann’s 3rd Symphony and Dvorak’s 9th Symphony. Brahms’ Violin Concerto will begin the second half, performed by Erik and Mark Schumann, with whom Alexander and the Nuremberg Symphony recorded the piece for Berlin Classics and Strauss’s “Abschiedspolka” (Farewell Polka) will see out proceedings. The concert will be broadcast live on Bavarian Radio.
