In the first of several such concerts over the coming months, Alexander this Sunday bids farewell to the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra’s Sunday subscription audience with a programme of Haydn, Liszt and Tchaikovsky. Haydn’s “Farewell” Symphony will set the scene at the opening of the concert, after which pianist Mariangela Vacatello will interpret Liszt’s 1st Concerto. The evening culminates in Tchaikovsky’s final symphonic statement, his majestic and wistful 6th Symphony – the first time that Alexander has performed the work with his orchestra. The concert is sold out, but returns may be available at the door.
