Over the last few years Alexander and the National Arts Centre Orchestra have toured to every province and territory in Canada, as well as to the UK, France, the Netherlands, Denmark and Sweden. Wherever they go they undertake significant education and outreach projects and engage with many thousands of young musicians and teachers.

During such meetings Alexander is frequently asked for tips on how to learn good conducting technique and on how to lead ensembles. This has led to the creation of a new series of introductory videos, accessible free to anyone with interest, anywhere in the world.

In this six part video series, topics include how to use the right and left hand, how to rehearse and prepare scores as well as how to collaborate with orchestras. Whether you are a student or amateur conductor these videos will provide you with clear instruction, practice tips and useful advice.

Alexander Shelley is passionate about arts education and nurturing the next generation of musicians. The National Arts Centre was inspired to create this series by the positive impact and enthusiastic response from the many workshops and coaching sessions Alexander Shelley provides when touring with the NAC Orchestra within Canada and internationally.
